Each person born in Kenya is required to possess a birth certificate, which is a significant official document. Name, birthplace, date of birth, and parents’ names or identities are all included.
A child’s birth certificate can be obtained online. Adults can also submit a late registration birth certificate application.
Birth Certificate Application Requirements
These papers must be shown when applying for a birth certificate.
- A scanned copy of the ID cards for both parents. Parents who are single can create one copy.
- A scanned copy of the birth notification
- For individuals older than 18, a scanned copy of their national identification (ID) card.
- For individuals who need a new birth certificate, a scanned copy of the authentic document.
The aforementioned files should be downloaded and saved in PDF format.
Children must submit their applications using one of their parents’ eCitizen accounts.
How To Use The E-citizen Site To Apply For Birth Certificate
The steps for requesting a birth certificate online through the eCitizen portal in Kenya are shown below.
- Open your eCitizen account and log in. You can create an account if you don’t already have one.
- Select “Get Service” in the Civil Registration Department.
- To begin, click “create application.”
- Choose Birth Certificate.
- Finish completing the online application.
- Upload all necessary paperwork. Don’t forget to select where you want to pick up your birth certificate.
- After completing the form, click “Continue” to get to the payment page for your application. Select the payment method you want to use. 180 Kshs will be yours to pay.
- Print out the invoice and use it as necessary.
- You will receive an SMS when the birth certificate is ready for pickup.
Be Sure To Go With The Following When Collecting Birth Certificates:
a) The original national identification card of the parents.
b) invoice for application payment
c) Notification of the original birth.
Note: All new birth certificates must be requested 30 days following the applicant’s birthday.
