How To Borrow Airtime On Telkom Kenya

Similar to Safaricom’s Okoa Jahazi, Telkom Kenya lets you borrow emergency airtime. Telkom prepaid customers can access the service, known as PEWA, simply dialing *133# on their phone. When your airtime runs out and there isn’t a shop nearby, PEWA was developed to make it easier to stay in touch with the people you care about.

One benefit of PEWA is that you can ask for emergency airtime while on the phone. For example, if you realize you are out of credit while on the phone, you can hold the hold, ask for PEWA, and then resume your conversation.

Telkom PEWA Services charges

Processing your borrowed airtime will cost you 10% in service fees from Telkom. For instance, you would receive Ksh 45 in airtime for a Ksh 50 loan.

How To Apply Get Airtime From Telkom PEWA

  1. As previously stated, your Telkom line must have been in use for the previous two months.
  2. You must have used 50 Ksh in total over the previous month.
  3. You must have at least Ksh 10 in your primary account.

Please be aware that Telkom Kenya would only lend you Ksh 20, Ksh 50, and Ksh 50 of emergency airtime.

How to Check your Telkom PEWA balance

By dialing *131# or sending the SMS keyword “131” to the number “131,” you can check your PEWA balance.

PEWA Payment Schedule

It needs to be paid back within 7 days of the approval date; otherwise, your Pewa service will be suspended for 14 days.

Please be aware that the 30-day validity of the PEWA airtime.
