Loan Interest Rates And Calculation
* Amount of Loan: Ksh 2,000 – Ksh 50,000
* Period of Loan: 80 – 365 days
* Rate of One-time Origination Fee: 24% APR (yearly rate) or 2% per month ( 24% ÷ 12 months) or 0.06575% per day (24% ÷ 365 days)
For example, if the loan amount (principal) is KSh 10,000 and the loan period is 80 days, the rate of the origination fee for 80 days would be 0.06575% per day x 80 days = 5.26%. This would translate to a APR of 24%. The loan amount (principal) disbursed would be KSh 10,000. The total origination fee would be KSh 10,000 x 5.26% = KSh 526. The total cost (amount due) supposed to pay back at the end of the loan term (after 80 days) would be KSh 10,000 (principal) + KSh 526 (origination fee) = KSh 10,526
