You can now easily pay for your monthly contributions, and pay penalties to NHIF through paybill number 200 222. You will need to be paid up to date in order to access NHIF services. Here are the steps to follow while making payment through NHIF paybill number.
1. You need to determine how much you need to pay and have the funds in the M-pesa account.
2. Navigate to SIM tools and go to M-pesa Menu. Here you will select lipa na M-pesa.
3. Select the Pay Bill option.
4. Enter Business Number which is 200222.
5. For account number, use the contributors ID number.
6. Enter the amount you wish to pay and press ok. For people in self employment, the minimum monthly contribution is Ksh500. You are encouraged to make annual contribution of Ksh6,000.
7. Enter your M-Pesa pin
8. Confirm if the details are correct then press okay
After successful submission, you will receive a confirmation SMS from M-Pesa. M-pesa paybill charges will apply.
How Much Is NHIF Contribution?
Any Kenyan over 18years old and who is a holder of ID card, can register to join NHIF as an individual member or as a family. As a family you can add your spouse and children under 18 years.
You will be required to provide birth certificates’ of the children and marriage certificate or a sworn affidavit for the spouse.
Self employed individuals will be making payments of Ksh500 every month. On registration, one is required to pay 1,500 as a cover for the first 3 months and there after a monthly payment of Ksh500. When this money is not received on or before 9th of every month, it will attract penalties.
For salaried people, the NHIF contribution will depend on the salary one receives with a lower rate of Ksh150 for those earning less than Ksh6,000 and a high of Ksh1,700 for those earning more than Ksh100,000 every month.
You can also make contribution by dialing NHIF USSD code *155# and follow the instructions. This payment option is however only available to people in self employment only.
